Brilliant win for Dan. You often see Davis Cup matches where lower ranked players play lights out for 2 sets, but can't maintain that level and then lose it in 5, so to comeback in the 5th was outstanding. Let's hope he can replicate the form shown in Glasgow week in week out, and get back up as one of the top 1990s in the world.
Sorry, but I don't think it was. Andy Castle's attempts to beg interviews with key people between games when there's precious little time available were embarrassing/pathetic in the extreme.
Very very happy to be proved wrong about Dan's attitude! I surprised myself by not writing him off after the 4th, he believed he could win the whole way through and I guess that made me believe too.
I couldn't watch the last set, I was on the phone for my weekly chat with our daughter, but I got her to put British Eurosport on and keep me updated with the scores.
SO pleased for Dan. For GB too of course, but most of all for Dan. I had great hopes of him as a junior, but then he seemed to lose his way with all sorts of problems. Whatever he is doing now that he wasn't doing before, it is certainly working! I really hope he can gain confidence from his great play this weekend and start climbing up the rankings. He is still only 21 (and doesn't even look that old!) so hopefully it is onwards and upwards.
