RE: Week 38 - ITF ($75K) - Shrewsbury, UK Hard

Naomi & Hev both won 2 & 2 so they will meet in the QFs.

Sad news for GaJo though - Sarah is a set and a break down.

Hi, How much is a ticket for this, and how do you get one?

Most of the fans that have previously gone have said that the viewing is good, but I went last year before the tournament started and was disappointed. There is a balcony that looks onto the two nearest courts, one court slightly more than the other, I think there are two sets of 3 courts, so obviously if there is play on the further courts away it is not great, oh and standing room only as well. You can though mingle with the players in the cafe which is not far form the said balcony.

Admission free until semi final day on Friday, not sure what they are charging for the final 2 days.

Yesterday there were quite a few 'random' chairs along the balcony + a few tables.  So there was both sitting and standing going on.  I didn't find it difficult to squeeze in a get a good view, but it may get more crowded as the week progresses.  Someone earlier said there is some seating set up at court level for the final 2 days I believe.

The cafe and 'lounge' is adjacent to the  viewing balcony and it's nice to be mixing with all the players and coaches. Food was good too.  Infact I had just as good a day there yesterday as I did at Wimbledon, at almost no expense.

 Thanks all.

I'm hoping to go the final 1-2 days ( as long as there are some Brits still left in),  so if anyone has any idea of the cost to watch Fri/Sat it would be much appreciated.

Malek beat Gronert 5 & 2 - bad luck GaJo - hope to see you again the next time she's playing in the UK!

Good stuff from Heather and Naomi  smile

Before Quebec, I was reckoning that Heather needed about 100 points by December ( i.e the same as would be coming off )  to probably book her place in the Aussie Open by basically retaining her place in the rankings.

Well she's now done that nice and early, 70 last week plus 30 so far this week, so maybe just ease off a bit this week now and let some other Brits get some useful points  wink

Beck is a very talented youngster, as I'm sure gajo will tell you, so Konta really needs to pick it up if she wants to make a comeback.

Naomi V Heather tomorrow then. As I have already stated, I think Naomi needs this more than Heather. Will she make the top 200 if she wins?
Also, I believe they met a while back (frinton?) and Heather won convincingly.

Any news of Hev's dubs?

Sadly JoKo lost against young upstart Beck, disappointing as I thought Jo could go deep here.

Naomi played Hev at Wrexham, a match which I saw. Hev should win it but Naomi has found a new level of form so not without chances.

According to the Beeb, Naomi won by 3 & 1.  Some number of games lost, though!  wink
