Sorry, board wasn't responding. It's all over. 6-0 6-3 Barthel. Not Hev's best game Guess she was still jetlagged.

Usual little ceremony at end. Mona gave a nice little speech. Hev wasn't asked to but she sat there bravely and smiling.

I'll get my hankie out now

Or maybe just get some lunch.

Runner up is really not a bad result.

Many thanks for all your updates, Helen and JC.

Pity about then final result and sounds as if Heather was far from her best, though Barthel is a good player.  I am sure jetlag as such would no longer have been an issue, but the accumulation of her matches in the last 2 weeks, travel and ultimately maybe crucially been suffering the cold has probably left her unable to pull out her best in the final.  Was she noticeably under the weather ?

She had already withdrawn from next week's French 25K earlier in the week, so a good rest up, look back satisfyingly on how her game has progressed, and I am sure she will be ready to look to take a few more scalps before the season end.

In the cafe, Mona's just walked past, looks like she's got really bad acne.

It's hard to say.  Certainly, all week she has not been the animated player that we saw on the Toronto streams. When she did summon extra energy at some moments today that often  ended in errors. This kinda indicates to me she was pretty much running on empty.

Today's  scoreline puts Anne's loss into perspective too.

Huge thanks to Helen for all the way beyond the call of duty updates on the Final and indeed to Julia and others for all their updates from Shrewsbury this week - you've all been giving it the coverage a 75K in the UK deserves but doesn't get from more official sources!

lol. Thank you for the invaluable insight. wink

On a more serious not--well done Heather on a very productive week. Barthel has been on a superb run of late and it looks as though the result was compounded by Heather not playing to her best.

Still, a career high of 88 or so next week. smile
