When I saw Joko and Amanda playing their semi yesterday they were both swathed in strapping; Joko had her thigh bandaged and Amanda had some complicated elbow support/strap. I don't think Joko had that in her 1st singles match, infact I'm sure she didn't. So in her case anyway it would appear to be something she picked up during the tournament.

JoKo has a long term problem with one of her thighs. This is the main injury that has held her back.
She has very slim thighs which have to take a huge load because thats the part of the body that generates most of the power. It seems to me that after a few matches that problem reemerges . I've no doubt they are working to build up that part of her body, because to me it is critical for her to reach her potential which is a top 100 player.

So I went along today and had a good time.

I arrived half way through the dubs final and it looked like Marosi and Koeleher had a that little bit extra and were deserved winners. Then Heather walked out on court, and in a flash seemed to be walking off the victor. lol. She was in control of the majority of rallies and seemed to be playing within herself. Beck, who is of similar stature to Heather, couldn't get a foothold in the match. She didn't really have the ability to penetrate through Heather.

I didn't see much of the Barthel match, but she has been playing superbly of late and is a big hitter. But then again, Heather has already played Sharapova who is, arguably, the biggest hitter of all. So that is not really going to intimidate Heather. Heather will have a pretty good shot, maybe 45-55 in Barthel's favour though.

Hopefully Heather can continue 'The sequence'.

Thanks Maza, for the report/comments.

In the video/interview on the LTA website Heather said as well as the jet lag she also had a cold. Shows something of her new found 'professionalism' that she can still win matches when 'below par'. Pretty impressive actually IMO.

Wish wish I could go tomorrow, but I don't think I will be.

Wish I lived closer to Shrewsbury! They've just posted to say the "England (sic) v Germany" Final is free. Must be some of the best free tennis of the year.

Don't know how that happened !!

Lap top says 'fully charged' but that doesn't mean much!!! Seems there are a few of us here so hopefully you guys will be kept well in touch. Barthel is near me right now in the cafe, looking very tall !! No sight of Hev yet, but her Mum is around.

Loads of empty seats by the court. Balcony reserved for 'Officials & guests' so will be difficult for me once battery has gone, unless I try looking 'official'

Well, you could claim you are (one of) the official BT.net correspondent(s) - I mean, Drew has managed to get a Davis Cup press pass on that basis in the past! smile
