Good that both doubles teams went through. And not as bad as it might look in the singles. Good for Skupski (N) to have had such a close match with Johnson, and Cox's win over Singh is more positive than it might appear. Singh is another underranked player making the transition from US college playing to the Tour.

Not surprised at Eatons loss tbh, the american outdoor hard courts tend to be very slow, would of preferred him to stay in europe on the faster indoor futures (sweden/france)

California seems much more appealing than France and Sweden though haha

Eaton & Skupski win their doubles QF 10-6 in the MTB.

I'm guessing nobody caught the Radio Tennis commentary on Dan's match today - looking at the live chat on there, I fear he may have lost, but it's not completely clear.

That's a pretty awful result, given Daescu's ranking and the fact that James Marsalek and Lewis Burton have both beaten him this year. That means that in both Darwin and Costa Mesa, we had two of the top five seeds this week, and in each case they only won one match between them. Thank goodness for Sweden and Hev!

Dan gets his revenge as he and his partner win 7-6(2) 6-4. And the news gets better as in the final they'll play Chris and Neil who won their SF 6-4 7-6(4).

I love the way we all talk about the doubles as revenge. Give either of them the choice before the week and they would both have taken the singles win so its not as if they're equal. Daescu will still be the happier!

Yes, I was tempted to say "you know it's been a rubbish tournament when people start talking about doubles as consolation or revenge" - though when I saw SMC's comment yesterday (which I realise was meant well), it struck me that it must be a sign of a decent summer in singles that people haven't been saying that kind of thing quite so much recently.
