Nope:  6-5*, so we could be heading for a third tie-break! hmm

When was the last time we had finalists in a foreign futures event?  I bet that somebody has already asked and answered that question......Whatever the answer, this was an impressive performance.   So was this just a flash in the pan, another false dawn?  Or will they they continue to win matches and show good form?

Two wins from a set down - great stuff! - that's Alex's 3rd Futures singles Final (from 12 semis), but his 2nd in as many weeks of course. He has met George once before in Futures (Tipton R1 earlier this year) and thrashed him 1 & 1, but I'm sure it'll be a much closer match tomorrow.

To answer your question - Tamarac, Florida in January, when Boggo beat Smethurst.

I also meant to add earlier (not that it'll be news to many of you!) that both finalists are going for their first Futures singles title.

Well played to Alex and George.
George starting at long last to make an impact at this level.

An intriguing final in prospect between one player who is consistent early in tournaments but struggles to win semis and finals, and one who is the reverse. However George's many national and international titles have been against his peers, so will playing someone 3 years older change the picture (particularly given their earlier encounter) or will George's extra effort in qualifying plus helping Lewis to break his series of 5 losing finals this year prove significant? Either way it's great that one of them will break their Futures singles title duck
