RE: Week 36 - ITF ($10K) - Madrid, Spain Hard

Oh dear. I wonder if she's stuck between needing to get the injury problems dealt with but wanting to keep playing while she can still get decent seedings in 10Ks, i.e. before her ranking drops. Unfortunately, the latter plan doesn't seem to be working

Anna on Twitter:

"Why do the worst calls always come on the biggest points? I think I just lost to a much crapper, female version of Ivo Karlovic, 1st and 2nd serves literally bouncing over my head on the nice tarmac courts "

I looked up Georgina Garcia Perez when someone asked for more info after I retweeted that and found this on a Spanish forum - people discussing whether she can serve faster than Lisicki and pics further down the page which do make her look extremely tall!

I think she ended up winning 0 & 1.

She was leading by 6-0 4-0 when work intervened for me ( cry ), so that's probably a reasonable guess! wink

Jade's match against Alex Walker's conqueror has just got under way:  1-1* (= service break apiece! hmm ).

Amazing:  five Brit(/Aussie) seeds in an overseas tournament & four of them through to the second round! smile  Pity poor Anna Fitz fell by the wayside yesterday. cry

She got broken in the 5th game of the 2nd set then broke back for 6-0 *5-1 and had disappeared off the live scores page when I checked back 5 minutes later.

Jade is in a 1st set t/b.

Jade gets the first break of set 2 at just the right time, and wins 7-6(4) 6-4. smile

Jade had break point at 5-4* in the second & the match simply disappeared off the screen, so I assume she converted & won the match by 7-6(4) 6-4. smile  Another Brit quarter-finalist. wink

They didn't have the scores for the doubles QFs when I looked, only the next Order of Play.

Anna & Jade won by 1 & 3, Lucy &  Alex by 1 & 2 & JoKo & Lisa by 2 & 3.

Jo & Lisa will face the third seeds, Torre & García, in their semi.
