Are the Poles more generally known as the "pesky Poles"? Just asking because I thought the description was invented by someone here (StirCrazy?) but Judy has called them that today in her blog. LOL

Not guilty, M'Lud! I generally refer to them as "the bloody Poles", but only because someone else (wolf?) referred to them as that after they'd proved to be the nemesis of quite a few British doubles teams in quick succession last year or conceivably the year before & I kinda liked the epithet! I'm afraid I'm not normally anywhere near temperate enough to be content with dubbing them merely "pesky". Maybe Judy's been secretly reading this board.
Certainly "pesky Poles" has been used quite a lot in the forum. I now use the term and I'm absolutely sure I picked it up from here and only here, but it may have come originally from elsewhere, don't know

I've referred to the Pliskova's as pesky, but not the poles.
