Just starting watching and can't help thinking that the Addam's Family must be missing a butler.

Thanks for the link, Wolf.   Good to be able to watch our boys triumph so apparently easily against the second seeds (by 3 & 5)!  Well done, Col & Ross.  Only the Spanish 13th seeds, Granollers & López, to face in the third round....

Yes! Great day for the Brits in New York.

Especially pleased for Jonny M and Jamie D after all their hard work at challenger level this year. A bit of a sticky patch for them the last couple of months but this is an excellent tournament from them.

I'm starting to expect this level of performance from Colin and Ross. Surprising that they've reached this level seeing as Ross has been struggling with injury all season so they can't have trained much together. It seemed an edgy match from all concerned today but Colin and Ross were the more controlled team.

Well done to both the doubles teams. Superb wins.

Incredible results. I only caught the end of each, but D/M looked to play some terrific stuff. The end of F/H match looked weirdly unexciting, neither side seemed as you'd expect, F/H not looking nervous, M/N not seeming at all desperate to stay in it.

If anybody saw a reasonable amount of both matches what was the level of play in comparison to each other?

If there are any journalists (other than OEM, who has at least tweeted on the topic) reading this board, could they please explain what the doubles teams need to do to merit a mention in any major news outlet? One would have thought that beating seeds to go into the third round would have sufficed ....

Delgado & Marray's win got a paragraph at the end of OEM's report on Andy's win, which seems about right. He doesn't mention Fleming & Hutch's win but his report was online before 1.30 this morning, which suggests he field it very quickly after the Murray match ended (as you'd expect), so if Fleming and Hutch haven't got much coverage in the press generally today, the fact they finished after the Murray match that had already go on so late (GB time) almost certainly explains it.

It does seem a bit odd though that even now, the only other easy to find mentions are from Alex Willis in her Telegraph blog http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/alexwillis/100018889/us-open-2011-diary-freaky-friday/ and a PA write-up http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5i5DVi3PI26cs5e_BZ9pckLlbKIpA?docId=N0172571315038173852A

Conversely, there is plenty of coverage of the result in the Canadian press wink

Fantastic results for both pairs even if the USO has been the worst slam for Nestor (not reached SF in last 7 years now)

On the (lack of) coverage...are we really that surprised? even at Wimbledon the doubles guys rarely get much attention and , unfortunately, doubles are seen as the ugly sister to the singles game.

As for the nest round - While I fear the Poles will have too much for M/D you have to say the Spaniards are very beatable
