Seems as if her good was very good, which just hints at what she could potentially do on a day when she also gets her serve in its best working order and eliminates the mistakes a bit.
Seems from the err varied accounts that there were too many mistakes, but I do expect a fair degree of mistakes as she continues to develop her game towards the end of an interrupted year, in which a lot of practice time was lost. It is that regular hitting of balls in protracted sessions that can really develop consistency.
Her interrupted tournament and practise year has I feel left her a bit behind schedule as to where she would like to be, but if she can get a really good off season with some good continual training and practise sessions, next year could be a big year for Laura. What's her current coaching situation ?
Anyway, hopefully more to come here with a not too unfavourable 2nd round in prospect, and if she could just get elements of her game really all working together and the win, a potentialy 3rd round with Zvonareva. Could be a pretty memorable tournament for Laura at this stage in her career.
Tossing was indeed bad. But it was windy. And yes there were many errors, but you better get used to that because that will never change due to her aggressive outlook. She will always look to hit more winners than errors.
She probably won't change overmuch in outlook. But good consistent high level practice and Laura being willing to learn should in time make her much more consistent.
If and when she does begin to eliminate a large percentage of the errors that I think, as you will gather from my previous post, are to an extent understandable just now, then with her clear strengths she will I envisage also begin to emerge as the kind of top player that so many have hoped that she will become.
