Ivanovic is also not fully awake yet on Ashe. Seems loads of higher ranked players (than opponents) are having slow starts.

Elena leading 2-6 6-2 *4-1. Keep your foot on the gas, Bally!

Play must have been slow today, I went out 3 hours ago expecting Elena's match to be long finished and Anne's to be half way through by the time I got home and find Elena still playing and Anne still waiting.

I have to be honest and say I'm getting too old to support British tennis players.

My nerves can't take it, I'm thinking French, whatdo you reckon ?

5 live reported that Hampton was feeling unwell, which explains the long stoppage at 2-1 in the third

And as a write that Hampton has retired. Strange that she retired only a couple of points from defeat at 5-1 down but well played Bally.

by retirement not the way she would have wanted especially with the scoreline 5-1 in the third

Hampton collapsed on court and is now being treated courtside by medics and Bally as well, so Bally is through not sure what Hampton's problem is.

That means at least two girls through to the second round of every slam in 2011 (including Bally in each one).

 Excellent news.

Laura will also be on court 13 first up tomorrow (4pm bst). Not the best scheduling for those of us who work during the day and wanted to watch this in the evening.

Having checked Durie, Wood, Hobbs, Gomer, Wade, Barker, Croft, Smith, Javer, Loosemore (have I missed anyone?), I believe Elena is the first British woman to make it past R1 at all four slams in the same calendar year since Jo Durie in 1983! (Durie got to at least R3 in all four slams that year)

I was thinking this result would set you off on a stat hunt and I wasn't disappointed. Do you know whenv the last occurence of two women through to R2 in all 4 slams was? I wouldn't be that surprised if it was the same year that two British women last got to round 2 of the French Open.

Anne's match is up and running. Does anyone have a live streaming for the match?
