RE: Week 32 - WTA Premier 5 ($2.05M) - Toronto, Canada - Hard

Another hard fought match from Hev, but not quite good enough yet to win a match like this to move up a level and get wins over top 50 players.
20 minute delay in Bally's match suggests a potential problem with Bally as she's lost the last three games since the break.

And there it is Bally loses 6-3 in the second, and after it all started so well.

Greta Arn wins 7-6(5) 6-3

Expected considering Bally's woeful record on US/Canadian hardcourts

Certainly was a long break in the second set when Bally was  2 - 1 *   40 - 30 up, after which she didn't break and was broken twice herself.

I think its more this time of year, as she's played pretty well at Indian Wells for instance.

Yes I meant to add 'during the US Open swing'  - a combination of conditions at this time of year and surface I guess

Heather:

"lost to Polona Hercog today 6-2, 3-6, 2-6. I started well but let off the gas. This match has motivated me to push harder with my fitness, because that is what will take me to the next level. I enjoyed playing today and can't wait untill my next tournament."

SOme good positive stuff from Heather there. Hercog is in good form so it was a tough draw.

After shooting up the rankings quickly in 2 years Heather seems to have reached a plateau for now. I'm sure she'll kick on and move up again soon though. I suspect this is the transition of playing on the main tour week in week out
