Week 30 Futures - GB F11 ($15,000) - Chiswick (Hard)

Qualifying draw

Fitzy and Burton presumably took the last DAs when the SEs cleared.

LTA site now showing a WC for Short (not Smethurst).

I'm guessing Dan's "Is it time I got my tonsils out?" tweet has got something to do with that, i.e. that he's ill at the moment, which is a pity.

Looking at the quali results there seems to be some good results in there, particulary Corrie beating Botti 2&1. Am i misreading them?

No, I don't think you are! Four Brits took out non-GB qualifying seeds today, giving us 14/16 in the FQR!

Just typing in the results ...

... also an honourable mention for unranked Joe Salisbury, who recovered fro ma set down twice to beat two ranked fellow Brits! Another terrible result for George Morgan, I'm afraid (if a very good onefor John Richards who beat him) - that win against Kosler in Frinton doesn't seem to have been the end of his below par run of form, unfortunately.

I saw a bit of Salisbury's match againts Rice at Frinton (lost on a third set Tie Break) and he looked a pretty good player so these results don't surprise me that much.

James also won the second set, not sure of the score though. Ashley Hewitt 4-3* up on Joshua Jones currently.

Bunch of quite interesting GB match-ups, isn't it. But what rotten luck for Marsalek and for Neil Skupski, who seems to be Baltacha's inverse insofar as GBR futures are concerned. In his entire career, as far as I can tell (Steven?), he's only failed to draw a seed in the first round once (at which point he went through to the semis). One could rather like his chances here, though, despite the disparities in ranking.

Strange that Goodall and Eaton are not playing doubles confuse

Evans and Broady is also an interesting partnership. If Liam goes off the rails we will all know who is to blame wink

Speaking of interesting pairings, just was looking at the County Cup stats and saw that Bamford/Rice had a perfect record. Pretty impressive. Eaton/Salisbury, Auckland/Bloomfield, May/Thornley and the Corries did well, too.
