Since Wimbledon, Boggo's first round draws have been against the 8th seed, against the 2nd seed, and now against the top seed ... whereas an unranked Brit just playing singles qualifying for fun (I assume) gets a relatively nice draw against another doubles specialist. Wish they could swap!
QR1: Alex Bogdanovic WR 375 v (q1) Tatsuma Ito (JPN) WR 106
QR1: Jamie Murray UNR v Marcelo Melo (BRA) WR 273
Both are 2nd on court after 18.00 BST.
Looking on the bright side, Boggo won his only previous meeting with Ito 7-6(6) 6-2 at the Nottingham Challenger 2 years ago, though Ito would have been ranked 100-200 places lower at that stage, and Boggo a similar amount higher.
Edit: In fact, as I am sure the doubles specialists here would have reminded me, Melo was Jamie's doubles partner in Atlanta this week.
Btw, this is Jamie's first appearance in singles qualifying since he got that controversial QWC at Queen's 3 years ago, his last singles win was against fellow Brit Jeffrey Zungunde at Surbiton Q in 2007 and his last win against a non-Brit was against Jaroslav Levinsky in Doha Q in December 2006.

Main draw only a 28 player one otherwise Ito would have missed qualies. The draws for qualies all look quite winnable for an ATP. Boggo can do this
I have to see that 28 player draws are quite ridiculous. There is no justication in just 4 players having byes and frequently not playing their first match till the Thursday.
