QF:  Miliaan Niesten & Xander Spong (NED/NED) UNR defeated (2) Ashley Hewitt & James Marsalek WR 2197 by 3 & 4

What a pity James was so tired after his heroics in beating the eighth seed in the singles to give of his best in the doubles. cry

Can only imagine there is some sort of injury for Alex...Yannis had previously not even taken a set against any ranked player and his Junior results hardly set the world on fire.

The score would certainly make more sense the other way round.    If it's true ( ), then a slap on the wrist for the ITF. furious

LOL I was wondering why James thought we were worried, given that Alex tweeted that he'd won 0 & 2 three hours ago - I RTd it meaning to post it here as well when I got the chance but then forgot. Naughty me, but naughtier ITF. LOL

James' win will put him in the GB top 25 when the points go on. Not bad when you consider he was unranked at the start of March.

I emailed the ITF pointing out the inconsistency of their result and the ATP, be interested to see how long it takes to elicit a response!

If at all...  Site's still showing the incorrect winner! disbelief

And just to complete the second-round pairings:

L16:  Jules Marie (FRA) WR 875 vs (3/Q) Alex Ward WR 496

biggrin  Let's hope the ITF got that one the right way round! wink

QF:  (Q) Sébastien Boltz (FRA) WR 1682 vs (3/Q) Alex Ward WR 496

QF:  James Marsalek WR 1054 vs (2) Alexandre Folie (BEL) WR 417

Another inviting round for Alex.  No Boltzs from the blue tomorrow, !  And here's hoping James can put a straightjacket on "Mr Madness"! wink

An all-Brit SF requested...

I got an email reply this morning to my work email, which I've now deleted. Said something about reloading the correct results by the supervisor, and confirming Alex had won. ITF have it right now, only just had a chance to check this evening.

I'd love James to reach at least the semis here.  I kind of think his performances over the last few months deserve a big week.

But it would be folie to think it will be easy.
