A good day's work for James all round:

SF:  (LL) Phillip Arndt & Devin Britton (USA/USA) lost to James Ward & Michael Yani (USA) by 4 & 1

Well done, lad, & good luck in your singles SF & the doubles final!

Final:  (1) Jordan Kerr & David Martin (AUS/USA) vs James Ward & Michael Yani (USA)

It sounds like it wasn't anything too serious with Jamie: "Craziest of crazy days folks- and its still not over! Sorry for the silence. I'll be trying to keep momentum going in chiswick come tuesday" - edit: "heat illness" is the reason given on the drawsheet, so apparently even the master Baker finds it too hot in the oven sometimes. Still, better than anything longer-lasting!

QF: (1) James Ward WR 198 beat Erik Chvojka (CAN) WR 337 by 3-6 7-5 6-1

Relieved to hear that about Jamie. smile

Looks as though Chvojka's resistance just crumbled after Dino came back from a set & 3-5 down! biggrin  His cage-fighting mate & mentor is clearly instilling some real mental strength in him! wink  USO qualies, here comes Dino!

Relieved to hear about Jamie - We probably could have guessed it was heat related given the weather problems in the States currently. Lexington seems to have been hit by some horrible Flash Floods as well so perhaps that explains the mentions to craziness.

biggrin - a reference to the cheaper running costs at night, I assume? biggrin

Ouellette, who (inadvertently) benefited from Jamie's troubles yesterday got double bagelled by no. 2 seed Odesnik in the semis!

James should be playing in about 15 minutes.

SF: (1) James Ward WR 198 beat (Alt) Pierre-Ludovic Duclos (CAN) WR 357 (CH 259 in 2009) by 4 & 4

Quick revenge for that recent defeat in Italy, Wardy's second Challenger singles Final (and first off clay), and almost certainly a new CH:

FI: (1) James Ward WR 198 v (2) Wayne Odesnik (USA) WR 206 (CH 77 in 2009)

They have only met once before and James won, 3-6 6-2 6-2 @ Sarasota Ch 2011. That was on green clay and it is possible (odd as it is to say this about a Brit!) that clay may have favoured James over Odesnik more than a hard court will.

"Boooooom!! I won 6.4 6.4!! Returned well today and moved great....final tmrw v odesnik!! Vamos!!! Dubs final in 20 mins....not a bad week!"

Final is at 18:00 (strangely at the same time as the women's final).

Will probably move to a career high regardless of the result but if he loses he will have 15 points less than he did following Queens.

Good week so far. Would be good to top it off with a win and get the US hardcourt season off with a bang

Any news from Lexington on James match?
I cannot find anything on bwin or other places.
I just checked the weather and it looks as though rain/thunder is forecast + there's an extreme heat warning for the area so maybe the weather is delaying things.
