R1: James Ward & Michael Yani (USA) beat (2) Pierre-Ludovic Duclos & Purav Raja (CAN/IND) 2-6 6-1 10-5
In the other match, Dan Cox (and Josh) withdrew due a wrist injury and Amer Delic (and Ken) withdrew due to a knee problem. Surely they couldv'e co-ordinated a retirement for one of them!

An excellent win for James & Michael. How disappointing for the others.
Rhyne Williams is probably under-ranked - he left college early this month to turn pro and beat Ginepri in Aptos last week before losing a tight 3-setter to Carsten Ball.
Jamie has a 1-0 head-to-head against the Gooch, having beaten him 3-6 6-1 6-4 in Nottingham qualifying in 2008, when the Aussie must have been close to his career high of 67.
James plays today, mid-late evening our time, Jamie tomorrow.
Ken: "Home sweet home. Still gutted we didn't get to play this week. A good draw and good points were on offer."

Real pity for Ken. He's not had too good a time with one thing and another since Flemski ceased to be.
Would be great if he could get another consistent partnership going. Same for Jamie Murray actually. Hmm....
I was about to say Ken is one of the few players Jamie Murray hasn't ever partnered but of course they played together at Delray Beach earlier this year and beat Fleming/Hutchins, which in its way was quite impressive) before going out to Lipsky/Ram.

They are now putting the results of completed matches on Twitter @53tennis (I imagine they had quite a few requests!)
L16: (1) James Ward WR 198 beat Rhyne Williams (USA) WR 626 (CH 608 earlier this month) by 4 & 5 L16: Jamie Baker WR 332 vs (3) Chris Guccione (AUS) WR 217 (CH 67 in 2008, H2H 1-0 to Jamie) - Thursday n/b 17.00 BST
QF: (1) James Ward WR 198 v Erik Chvojka (CAN) WR 337 (= CH)
This is Chvojka's first Challenger QF outside Canada (in Canada, he has reached the QFs of two Challengers, in 2008 and 2010, eventually going out in the SFs each time), while his two most recent results against Brits are a win against David Rice last year and a loss to Burnham Arlidge in Australia earlier this year. He upset Delic in R1, but it sounds like the Bosnian was carrying an injury at the time.
James is now provisionally up to WR 190, another win on Friday. He would need to reach at least the Final here to take out his career high of 176.

Well done, Dino, though it's no more than we should have been expecting. By the sounds of it, Chvojka may have done James a favour: I'd have felt less confident of further progress, had he been facing Delic in the QF.
