She needs to hand out a bit of revenge first - Koryttseva edged her out 6-4 2-6 7-6(3) in Moscow qualifying last year. They have very similar CHs - 49 (Bally) and 50.

That's 5pm local time, so 1pm BST start for Bally if the previous 3 matches finish inside 6 hours

There is a seriously week entry list for this tournament, with the last direct acceptance being the world no. 260 (Tetyana Arefyeva).

Probably not the best scheduling, having a tournament as far away from America as possible just before the start of the US hardcourt season, but still there are quite a few players who could have taken advantage of a rare chance to play in a WTA main draw (including Naomi and katie of the British girls not currently recovering from injury). To be fair, it's a long way to travel and they wouldn't have known the entry rank would be so low.

Bally's match just about to start, and is on the bet365 stream. Good timing, as I can watch during my lunch hour.

Not going at all well so far, Bally about to serve at 0-4. She has the power to turn this around but too many loose shots at the moment.

After a very long game at 4-1, Koryttseva holds, then breaks to take the set 6-1.

Koryttseva's defence has been impressive in this match, she has won a couple of points from nowhere with some scrambling along the baseline and a couple of lobs.

Koryttseva's second serve sits up waiting to be hit, and Bally takes advantage of enough of them to break early in the second set for 1-6 *1-0
