court looks pretty dire tho, an indoor hard court that seems slower than clay!!

Yes, does look really pretty slow.  One would have to ask why ?   Can't see that's any help to this GB team.

Anyway James scrambles through another game and tries to rouse the crowd from their slumbers.  Davis Cuo, get with it folk !

i think they are just poor at laying the court to be honest.

i haven't been able to watch the match that closely, but it doesn't seem that great. the Hungarian guy seems to have the odd great shot but very little else. Wardy making a bit of a meal of it? (even though it will probably be straights)

In the end it was last man standing, as Attilla the Hun suffered from cramp at the end! So James came through in 4.

My daughter is home to do the Great North Run so I'm having to fight for control of the computer

Hope that the next match is OK. Can't say I like these "lamb to the slaughter" matches ... If they go through to Gp 1, at least there shouldn't be any repeats of these.

Edit: in second set at 2-1 deuce. Unranked doesn't seem quite to do this player justice .... can't see many unranked players performing at this level .... Not quite a lamb ....

Second edit: I take it all back. That was a magnificent show. As Mr Murray said, he should have kept playing.

Very frustrated that I had to miss the most important day today (long story, but had no choice in the end), but I'm going up on the night train tonight and intending to make lots of noise tomorrow!

Strange matches today, but Wardy did very well to win through the cramp (and Balazs was WR 153 last October, so he was never going to be a pushover) - what on earth was Muzz up to in that 3rd set though? Trying to make it exciting? Still, as long as he wins ...

There may not be any home ties for a while either - of the 19 teams that could still end up in G1 with the winner of this tie, we are due home ties against just 4 (SVK, FIN, CZE & SUI - who might all end up in other groups depending on this weekend's results), away ties against 11 and 'by lot' ties against 4 (RUS, DEN, BIH & BEL) ...

Did anyone hear 1 of the commentators say James had parted from his fitness trainer?

All I can say is that Murray best be available if we get a tricky away tie. Otherwise his participation in this years ties will not only have been a waste of time but actively harmful in denying opportunities to others.
