Btw that result completed a 24 hour period (starting with Boggo's win and ending with Baker's) in which six of the top twelve GB men played ... and they all won!
I have to say I am enjoying Brits just competing at challenger level again! It should be the norm yet seems rare with form being that poor at times.
If Alex can find his best form, I do think he is capable of winning several rounds here. The field seems quite weak for a $100k event. At some point this year, he does need to put together a strinf of wins. I think the pressure is off him - many people would be unsuprised if he does no better than to maintain he current ranking. People's attention is focused on Oli Golding, George Morgan, Liam Broady. Boggo never enjoyed being in the limelight, perhaps this will suit him.....
On an unrelated note, I was suprised to see Oli G turning out for a club league match for Lensbury and even more suprised that he only won two of the four sets he played....
Bozo has worked out how to beat Jamie at last, it seems
"Just off court. Lost 26, 61, 76. Very sore one. Great fightback in the third but not much consolation at this stage. Grind journey tomorrow"
L16: Jamie Baker WR 339 lost to (7) Ilija Bozoljac (SRB) WR 239 (CH 101 in 2007) by 2-6 6-1 7-6 L16: Alex Bogdanovic WR 382 beat (Q) David Martin WR 901 (CH 459 in 2006) by 1 & 2
QF: Alex Bogdanovic WR 382 v (7) Ilija Bozoljac (SRB) WR 239 (CH 101 in 2007)
(aka Boggo v Bozo, Belgrade-born v Belgrade resident!)
H2H 2-3, but Boggo has won their only previous meeting on outdoor hard (Las Vegas ATP Q 2007, 1 & 3) and their last meeting (Queen's Q last year 4-6 7-6(3) 6-4), Bozo's wins coming on indoor hard (Heilbronn Ch 2007, 3 sets), green clay (Miami Ch 2008, 3 sets) and carpet (Belgrade Ch 2010, 6 & 5)
