Johanna Konta will be next on Court 1 for her first match in Great Britain* since the 25k Sutton final on 8th February 2009. Back then, Johanna was representing Australia, but was expected to switch to representing GB over the next few months....
*She has played one match in Jersey in between times.
Neil Harman actually wrote at the time that Jo was going through a process that at that time still had at least 2 and a half years to run until she could apply for her passport and represent GB, so it was always really a pretty long term thing.
I am assuming this is still the plan and could happen later this year ? I've not seen or heard anything lately.
Anyway, nice to see Jo actually competing in GB ( she has pulled out late more than once ) and winning

I thought the opinion at the time was that she might gain British nationality at the age of 18. You probably know more than me though.
Anyway, it is strange how rarely she plays in Britain. Even if it was always going to be a long process, if she is based in the UK it must take extra effort to play all her tournaments abroad.
To read the venue's tweets @FoxhillsSurrey ("Laura is playing in an hour" then 6 hours later, 2 pics of Laura & the news that she won), you'd think nobody else was playing there! Nice to see some people watching anyway.

Ahh steven you spotted where I got the Laura update from, and I thought I was the only one that had found that twitter feed.
