Good to see Laura reaping the benefits of coming through a very tough first round match, with the scores in the last two matches suggesting she is playing well.

JoKo v Laura would certainly be an interesting final, but there are two tough semi-final opponents to get through first, who also both won easily today

n.b. This is also the first time Laura has made it to a $25k semi-final in 8 attempts

Mel did indeed redeem herself in the doubles:

SF:  (1) Emma Laine (FIN) & Mel South WR 306 defeated Daneika Borthwick & Ruth Seabourne UNR by 4 & 3

SF:  Lottie Fox & Aimee Gibson UNR lost to (2) Julie Coin & Eva Hrdinova (FRA/CZE) WR 406 by 2 & 3

Love the way Cav is openly giving Laura and Jo tips  - I wonder why players don't do this more often (or perhaps they do, just not so openly!):

"LOVE that Laura and Jo are in the semis in woking... Laura needs to play to Stanciute's body and pepper the forehand as it breaks down ... (don't know why I think I'm qualified to give advice... I never beat her!)... but still... take her wide on the bhand then hit the fhand...

Interesting match up with Jo and Diatchenko... Slow courts don't suit either of them but then Jo has had some great results on clay... ...gotta look to stretch her wide and make her go to one hand as she usually comes back short then take her time away to expose her movement ... Hoping for an almost all British final! Jo counts as at least a half!! : )"

Laura, however, seems far more excited by her trip to see the Harry Potter film tomorrow night:
