I mentioned in the Wimbledon thread that I was disappointed that Laura would be playing clay court tournaments after Wimbledon so I am glad she has changed her plans and is playing here instead.
Looking at the entry list on ITF, there is no-one here capable of beating Laura if she plays like she did at Wimbledon. However, the big question is can Laura string 5 consecutive performances together? She should definitely be targetting at least one title from Woking and Wrexham.
Hoping that Sam and Jade can continue their good progress of the last few months.
As mentioned before really, anything other than a win here for Laura wouldn't be that good. A win here and in wrexham could certainly be the start of the big breakthrough.
I'd like to see Mel and Emily do well here to increase their chanches of playing US open.
Naomi drew the short straw with her draw, Coin and then probably Stanciute ( a non seed and arguably a major contender for the title). Predict a maximum of 10 GB victories inc JoKo but probably nearer 7 the most likely.
Watch out for the girl Emily's playing too. She was really impressive last year, cruising into the semis before losing to Babos yet doesn't seem to have done anything of note in the past 12 months...
