That is a great win and will result in a huge ranking boost. Never seen Nik play so don't know her full potential, but this is further evidence that the college route ain't a bad option.
There is this video of Nik playing in a 10K a few years back in Argentina - her results over the past 2 years suggests she has pushed again since it was made, but it's nice to see her all court game and single handed backhand in action.
Thanks for the video, seems to have a nice allcourt game with no major weaknesses, and as you say will have stepped up a gear since this video was taken. Looks to me as if she is well capable of making the top 500 bare minimum, especially with the feisty attitude she has.
It's nice to see someone do so well later in her career, Judy Murray got it right by describing her as a late bloomer. She certainly has my support. Great to see her hard work paying off.
That really was a fabulous win against a player ranked over 500 places higher. She was already due a 100 place rise for her exploits last week and in qualifying, this will win add another 100 places and take her up to about WR 668.
She plays Boserup next, who has thrashed both Hev and Mel in the last year and a bit, since losing to Bally in 3 sets at Indian Wells Q last year.
I too thought it was shocking that Nik was left out of the CG team, it was as if they had completely forgotten about her existence.

This is great for Nik. Hopefully success will breed success in that she will be able to afford now a prolonged run at tournaments, something she has not been able to do in the quite recent past.
Last year I think more than once, she had to curtail planned schedules due to lack of funding and having to go back to coaching to earn some dosh. She certainly seems a spirited lass with a bit of personality and what she is achieving she is doing with very little suppoort, indeed as some have said re the Commonwealth Games stupidity, occasionally without acknowledgement of her existence.
