Hutch & Hev 4-5*.

Col & Jos *5-2.

It would be nice to think that both boys could salvage something from today after that heart-breaking defeat in the men's doubles QF.

Ross & Hev lost the first set by 4-6. cry

Some consolation for Colin, though:  he & Jos defeated Norman & Raymond by 6-4 3-6 6-4!   Ironically, Colin was broken when serving for the set at *5-3, but they then managed to break Norman in the tenth game to win it! biggrin  Into the quarters they go!   One minus point:  Jos cost the team an awful lot of points with the number of doubles faults she served. hmm

Colin & Jos won 6-4 3-6 6-4. Not quite sure how they managed it, such a curate's egg performance. Some very good points, but Jos's service games were of the 'hide behind the sofa' variety, littered with double faults, second serve aces, missed overheads/volleys from Colin and just enough errors from their opponents.

Colin & Jos have started (currently shown via the BBC website - BBC1 may well move to it as well). Down an early break

1-2*

First set lost 4-6 (2 breaks of Jos's serve - the second with 3 doublefaults unfortunately - looks as if her serve has suffered considerably compared to a couple of years ago, thanks to various injuries

Couldn't hold Jos's serve unfortunately (one hold out of 5) - she only won a couple of points all match serving to Erlich

That is a fairly common occurance in Mixed Doubles. A strong male player can often completely destroy a female player of lesser ability.
