Yeh because Sharma and Khan have been getting Cook out caught on the boundary off long hops. Oh no, prodigious early swing with a red ball...
What about Broady's hatrick? Pity Bhaji got such a massive inside edge but great times anyway
It's not as simple ( indeed not really remotely a suggestion ) that Cook is suddenly going to go gung ho in test cricket and get caught on the boundary, and it is also too early to jump to any conclusions, his form gainst Sri lanka was still good.
BUT, my original longer term point was that the generally agreed improvements in technique, which seemed to make him less susceptible to say following a swinging ball and getting caught behind, or indeed fall over a bit and find himself lbw, could in time be unnecessarily negated to an extent by playing one dayers.

How cruel, how cruel... would have been an amazing gesture if Eng declared with Cookie on 332 n.o.
How ?
I know 332 would be one short of the 333 Graham Gooch got against India, and Gooch has sort of been a "mentor" for Cook, but there was nothing particularly mythical about Gooch's inning. If he'd got the chance should just have smashed past it and I am sure Gooch would have agreed.
Or is there something else I'm missing ?

That's it, really. Mark of respect to Goochie for the hard work he has put in with the team. But of course, if he had the time to get to 400, he should have gone right past it.
Shame about the cricket as I would have loved a proper contest.
Who would have thought that these guys would struggle in India, eh?
Jonathan Trott, what a player in ODIs - he scores, you lose. No doubt the Trott apologists will be in full flow in the media now about how it's not Trott's fault that the bowlers can't defend 300. Just like they always do when his partners succumb to the pressure created by his scoring rate and the media goes on about how England would be 200 all out without Trott.
By the time someone will finally realise what the fans have been seeing since 2009/10, the 2015 World Cup will have ended. No doubt, we will see a "new dawn" once again where generally the same people will be picked once again. James Taylor for captain? Good Test batsman, well spoken from what I have seen, likes to lose ODI matches by batting slowly and the perfect age.
Seriously time to stop picking Trott, Patel, Bopara and Bell. Bopara and Patel can return if they start playing like Hick/Tresco but otherwise not. Trott and Bell obviously can't be asked to play domestic cricket because of their Test match commitments.

Excuse me but my son asked me a cricket question that I'm note sure about and can't find a specific google answer:
if the batsman hits the ball directly into the stumps of the batsman at the other end (and that other batsman is out of his crease), is the other batsman out ?
Many thanks in advance to any cricket experts out there . . . .
