RE: Week 25 - ITF ($10K) - Breda, Netherlands Clay

Unofficially I gather that Eleanor won today, not sure of exact score.

Would have kinda not minded either winning.

But an Eleanor win qualifies her for the "Winning Streak" thread along with 5 other British women who are recorded there as winning at least 10 matches in a row :

Naomi Broady, Anne Keothavong, Sue Barker, Virginia Wade and Elena Baltacha.

This is getting quite silly in a great way  smile

Comparing how the two Brits here picked up their ranking points, I'd have been stunned if Eleanor hadn't won today and I'll be surprised if the score when it comes out is at all close.

Mm, Manisha is coming on.  I'll go for the score being reasonably close ( I honestly don't lnow it as may become clear if and when I'm quite wrong )

Ha. Ha, it was probably closer than the score suggests.

Bah, given how wonderfully NOT my BOTB is going, I think I should just steer clear of predictions for a little while.

Anyway, well done Eleanor,  again   smile

Happy to see Ellie win as although I like all British players, Ellie has by far the bigger future. Sorry if thats a tad harsh.
Semi will be a big test but on current form who knows.
I wonder which part of Ellie's game is excelling on this surface, because it should be a surface on which she struggles. Then again clay plays as fast as grass now doesn't it with the faster balls.

Well done Eleanor.

P.S. Does anyone else get a mental image of 1967 Shelby Mustang Cobra whenever they say Eleanor?

No! Just me then.

I'm not going to get that imagine, but thanks to you, I will get the Nicholas Cage 'forlorn face' as a mental imagine every time I see a result with Eleanor from now on.

It could be a late night for Eleanor, as according to the official web site (with a bit of help from google translate):

Schedule of Play

Center Court:

Someone at the venue has tweeted that Eleanor lost - don't know the score yet.

Eleanor lost 6-4 6-3

Every run has to come to an end and Kerkhove is a powerful player, who I remember pushed Laura more than most on her way to the Wimbledon title.
