Please forgive any duplication, but I can't see a thread devoted to the doubles, so here goes:

R1:  (WC) Jos Rae & Heather Watson vs Svetlana Kuznetsova & Vera Zvonareva (RUS/RUS)

R1:  (WC) Anne Keothavong & Laura Robson vs (16) Olga Govortsova & Alla Kudryavtseva (BLR/RUS) bleh

R1:  (WC) Naomi Broady & Emily Webley-Smith vs Renata Voracova & Galina Voskoboeva (CZE/KAZ) *

R1:  (14) Cara Black & Shahar Peer (ZIM/ISR) vs (WC) Sarah Borwell & Mel South bleh

 

*  Naomi & EWS unfortunately lost by 3 & 4 earlier this evening.

Not very kind draws, methinks.  Wonder if Heather will actually play, given the injury she sustained to her right elbow in her heart-breaking first-round singles match against Mathilde Johansson.  Thought I saw Jos sitting next to Heather's mum on the odd occasions I was able to check on progress in Heather's singles match at work this afternoon.

No suggestion at this stage that Hev is going to withdraw from the doubles, but her match with Joss has been cancelled for the day.

Kuznetsova and Zvonareva must still be sulking from being knocked out of singles today because Heather and Joss are now down to play Sophie Lefevre and Evgeniya Rodina who lost 6-3 6-1 in the 1st round of doubles qualies. Due on after Monfils who is still in the 3rd set so they might be pushed back yet another day.

Heather/Jos 0-2 down. BBC are ignoring them despite only using 3 of their streams at the moment so having plenty of spare capacity.

1st set lost 4-6 after saving numerous set points.

2nd set, 0-1* down

The girls lose 4-6 4-6. A lot of deuce games in there, but not many break points that they didn't take.
