Given the weather forecast, and the fact Laura follows 1.5 mens matches it could be another frustrating day for Robbo. Hev at least got her info at 5.30 so wasn't hanging around too long.
That did initially seem to me a pretty surprisingly piece of scheduling playing a men's 2nd round match ( then the unfinished men's 1st round mattch ) before the 1st round match involving Laura. Also seems the only such case in the schedule. Then I id wonder if it might at least partly be because Laura and Angelique hung around so long and late today.
I do think Wimbledon generally does scheduling very well, and certainly doesn't appear to have much to learn ( or at least what not to do ! ) from some if not all the other grand slams. Today's clear decision to proritise trying to get the men's first round completed made sense and they got pretty close with just the 3 matches unfinished.
i dont know where to put this so i'll put it here- can a ground pass get you onto court 2 or 3? kinda need to know soooon, sorry for posting same thing!!!!
no, not court 2.
but with court 3 there is a section which is open to ground pass. but not the whole stadium.

another look at the weather and it's going to be pretty poor morning and midday, should clear up later on. so hopefully heather's match will be delayed and I can watch.

Ms. Webley-Smith is one of the players I admire most of all the ones we follow. Her success has come the hard way; she has taken the chance she was given and done amazingly with it; and while losing at the end must be so frustrating, I hope she's also got a huge sense of accomplishment in how well she did ... and what it shows about her potential!
Has to be one of the worst pieces of scheduling I've ever seen.
:/
As I suggested above, i can only think it is to do with the fact that the 2 players hung around so long yesterday, so didn't want to bring them back again first thing today. I wonder if the players themselves were consulted on this.
Do run a slight risk with the weather ( the forecast which seems to keep changing ) but generally looks as if it will be good enough that they should play OK ( just hope they don't now get a mini Isner / Mahut contest before them ! )
PS : guess you didn't look too much into the French Open scheduling, and it generally didn't even have any weather problems

Having said that I think Wimbledon schedulers generally do a good job, in my view there should be one major change.
Play on the middle Sunday !!
I really do think Sunday should be a scheduled day, rather than **** to do with tradition or employees need a rest on the Sunday. Not enough focus on the players ( who could end up playing on too many successive days, they have knackered players before through inflexibility ) and fans with that choice.
It would make so much more sense to have R4 split over Sunday and Monday and basically ( in theory ) keep each half playing one day on / one day off up to and including R4. Plus, as may become quite relevant this year, it gives you more space if and when there are weather problems.
I don't think they do a very good job at all. Take today - it's raining so they are getting further behind, but they have one court with a roof they can use, and it has air conditioning so there is no need to worry about dew.
So what time shall we start to prevent slipping further behind than we have to? Ah yes, 1pm, that looks like a good idea. Muppets.
regarding schedueling the women, i have no problem with getting the men on first, dont forget the women only play 3 sets, the men need the day rest much more. the women regularly play 3 set matches all week in tour events.
