RE: Week 24 Futures - Japan F6 ($10K) - Kashiwa (Hard)

hi guys,

todays match was a tough one, the humidity stepped up a notch and everyone was struggling.
More with the amount you were sweating rather that fitness wise, well that was the case for me, struggling to get a real grip on the racket.

I was 4-2 up with a break in the first set and dominating and looking the better player.
Got broken back straight away, and at 5-4 me 15-15 he hit a big second serve wide and it went about 2 inches out, and the ref over ruled the line umpire and called it in, the game went to 40-30, so i would have and should have had a set point instead of a game point to him. Kills me that things like that sometimes decide big moments.

I didnt let it affect me, he upped his game and my first serve percentage went down slightly and he started going big on every second serve.

Lost an early break in the second set and nearly came back again at the end to break him at 5-4. was nearly 3 hours for 2 sets so was a tough one.
Not happy remotely with 2 points from 2 weeks, it keeps the ball rolling but the way ive been playing i should be making semis or better but right now it means a little too much to me because i dont have too many futures to fall back on if i dont take the chance now. Trying to work out a way of not putting so much pressure on myself as its distructive.

Hoopefully over the summer futures i can relax and just play.

Feel for you Fitzy. Its easy on the outside knowing if you keep playing to this standard the results will come but, when its yourself, I guess it can't be easy.

I also feel for you Andrew....I will not offer any playing advice as i have never been a tennis pro but in general terms on the mental side i am learning as a 14 h/c golfer is to focus more on each individual shot, regardless of the last shot, each shot in golf / stroke in tennis needs the technical ability but also a clear mental focus if each execution is to be carried out properly. ATB.
