haha it wasnt serving yipes it was cramp in my right arm. Dont worry im serving and playing well. actually played a practise set with lee this morning.
focused on the first round as he is a decent japanese player who doesnt travel and just stays in japan. But he is carrying an injury at the moment so im told.
See what happens, enjoying the surface thats for sure.

second on after 10 tomorrow rain permitting.

cheers

just got back to the place im staying, tough battle today.

The guy was as i was told, a very decent player. I was a little tight at the start with a big crowd and was 61 53 down and managed to come back and win 16 75 63.
Served really well for the last part of the second set and all of the third so was pleasing with that.
For some reason they are still splitting the draw so i have a day off singles tomorrow and just doubles.

I play LEE in the second round on thursday and im feeling good. Just need to start alot better than i did today. Courts suit my game, but also his as he has a big game.

Not much else to report really other than dont read just paper value with alot of these japanese players as they are all decent.

well done on coming back from the brink so to speak and good luck in the next round.

i have heard that the Japanese players get a lot more support than us Brits do, as soon as they achieve a decent ranking they easily get big sponsorship deals etc.

yeah exactly, the guy i played today had his sponsors filming him and watching him. kinda sums our system up and rubs it in!!

Well done, Fitzy.

I wonder if the general myth that all British players get lots of financial support from the LTA makes it harder for players to find sponsors here.

Excellent comeback Fitzy - last week's experience probably helped you mentally. Keep going!

No results today yet, but I have a feeling the guy playing doubles in the white kit with the black over the left shoulder is Fitzy - e.g. the last picture on http://www.tennis-ttc.or.jp/itf2011-photos-day-15.html (also in a couple higher up the page) - I'm sure he'll put me right if it's not him, while if it is, he must be one of the tallest players there!

It actually looks like a proper hard court this time too, no astroturf + sand for once!

L16: Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 976 lost to (4) Lee Hsin-Han (TPE) WR 575 by 5 & 4

Pity, but one thing Fitzy has almost certainly achieved with his R1 win is a new career high (at the end of Wimbledon)

a shame, but a decent scoreline vs a top 600 guy.

Agreed, a decent soreline given the opposition. 2pts gained on this trip so far, double it up next week Fitzy!
