ah, i take your point rja but even so there are also 13 gems and 11 germans in the same draw as well (not to mention 7 from usa) so amazing that those countries didn't wind up with a tie between there countrymen, let alone 2.
Yes, certainly was very unlikely in a 128 man draw to have got 2 all-Brit ties. But the luck of the draw has given us what I think is a pretty good result.
Quite happy really with these specific ties and the draw in general for the Brits.
Pretty good for Liam, that as well as Di Mauro's questionable grass credentials the guy still slips in as 31st seed, so if Liam beats him he'd then get a non-seed in Q2, i.e. Bautista-Agut (ESP) or Lojda (CZE).
Tough Q1 draws though for Smethurst and Ward.

Alex Ward - 2nd on Court 6 Liam Broady - 2nd on Court 14 Oliver Golding - 2nd on Court 15 Boggo - 1st on Court 16 Dan Smethurst - 2nd on Court 16 Baker v Mogan - 4th on Court 16
Doubles
Broady/Golding - 5th on Court 15 Rice/Thornley - 5th on Court 16
Looks like a decent enough draw for Boggo, Don't think Kintell will have much experience on grass and Boggo got a good win over him on carpet last year. he did win Helibron challenger this year though, beating Bozo and brands ins the SF & F respectively, would suggest he can be a good returner of serve.

Is anybody going this morning? I aim to be there around 1.00, provided it is not raining (it is overcast and damp at the moment). If anyone fancies meeting, send me a private message
Ha! Things are never straight forward when it comes to the Wimbledon Website. I have vague recollections of waiting for the draw on radio wimbledon a few years ago, however it never materialised! I'm not holding out much hope.

i wonder if all the matches have started and just no scores or if some starts were delayed due to damp courts.
Yep that's an odd one.
If you look at the order of play, the matches that have started have 'In Progress' by them. So I reckon your damp courts explanation could be right. However it could just be the incompetence of the Wimbledon website.

I am informed by Leon Smith via Roger Draper that it was the All England Club Committees decision not to allocate a qualifying wild card for Richard Bloomfield and the LTA did recommend Richard to the All England Club.
As Richard is higher Ranked than Boggo who is also recovering from injury played similar amount of games and similar age I wonder if the the All England had in mind that ridiculous betting allegation from Wimbledon 2006 first round win and yet again last year when he beat Rochus in USA who by the way was only ranked 160, Richard then went on to beat Giraldo and Ryan Harrison - were they too taking bribes? ( Telegraph )
I did not notice an investigation being launched for James Ward's brilliant wins last week! I wonder why Richard gets the bookies, especially Bet365 so upset when he wins against the odds is he supposed to always lose?

Another match seems to have just started so damp courts looks like a distinct possibility.

Seems very odd for the All England Club to reject the LTA's recomendations so you are probably right that the "betting scandal" had something to do with it.
Now I am not going to accuse Richard of anything but in fairness to the bookies they do know the difference between suspicious betting paterns and an underdog winning.
Court 1 not updating scores for some reason either. Ct 3 now saying play susepended.
@MJD. that's odd if that was on Wimby's mind. but in anyway it's nothing to do with the winner of a match, you can't throw a match by agreeing you will defiantly will it (with out the losers pre agreement). Let's hope that is not the reason.
