Surely she can't lose it from here:  6-4 *4-1?

Anne's not someone I would trust to win from this situation - but I'm pleased that in this case she didsmile

6-4 6-2

A rare win over a top 100 player on grass, and her first at Eastbourne since 2001

Anna 6-7(4) 1-3*

That looks a very decent performance from Anna, especially first set.

She has seemed to take a time to get going with her latest comeback after a spell out and that match is certainly closer than I would have anticipated. Hopefully she gets a decent draw in Wimbledon Q.

Katie   * 1 - 3

Katie lost to Alison Riske  6 - 2  6 - 4.

So just Anne through to Q2.  None of the other girls were within 100 ranking places of their opponents so it would have no doubt required really big performances to eek out another win.

It would have been nice to get a couple of wins ( and would also have been very good considering the rankings ).

Maybe the really big wins are being saved for Wimbledon.

Saw the Keothavong match yesterday. It was more about Cornet combusting than Anne winning it. Anne did well to keep her head, though, and it was a big scalp.

This current scoreline doesn't surprise me, in that there were definitely glimpses of her top 50 form from a couple of years ago at Nottingham. It was just as soon as a few errors came along, you could see the belief draining from her mentally, and her saying to herself I can't believe this is happening again.
