At least Francesa Lewis did have the consolation of a win (and an ATP point today) - to complete what Tony_Orient started on page 1, over the 4 sets, Laura dropped just 8 points in 13 service games, and half of them were DFs!

is the standard of the british girls quite poor here? just wondered seen some of the names before and saw some in Edinburgh? Obviously Laura Robson is a stand out and should rattle through any British opposition

I think it's fair to say that it is high British Tour standard rather than 100K+H ITF qualifying standard, with the ranked but unseeded Brits not getting the best draws, e.g. Stephenson got the 7th seed in QR1, Borthwick plays the top seed in QR2, Elliott the reigning junior Wimbledon Champion.
Unless Amanda can beat Pliskova, that's who Laura would face in the FQR (which would then be between two former jnior Wimbledon champions, obviously!) - fortunately she had a better record against Kristina, having once thrashed her in the AO junior SFs, than against her sister, but it'll be a tough match if that's what it comes down to.
