RE: Week 23 - ITF ($100K+H) - Nottingham, UK Grass

Not only has Bally won the title but she did it quite easily:

beat Luzhanska 6-3 6-4

beat Kremer 6-3 6-1

beat Hradecka 6-1 6-3

beat Dubois 6-2 6-2

beat Cetkovska 7-5 6-3

Considering this is the joint biggest title she has won, it's a very impressive run of results

Great stuff - adding an 'H' to her career best title (Midland '10) - also with victory over a Czech girl in the final

My favourite British player wins just goes to show all the wasted years with Durie and Jones. Severino has made such a difference

Fantastic. Well done Bally. Was there yesterday to see her win her semi-final.

Bally was interviewed on 5 Live, absolutely full of positivity.  OK, she had just won, but as the presenter said even then some folk would have still been this could be better or that could be better.

Said she prefers playing Nottingham than Birmingham because the grass is firmer and more like Wimbledon.

Asked the old one about how can we improve British tennis in getting more high ranked players and as so many reply, no doubt correctly, she said it's a numbers game, keeping young players interested, having many more junior top players at each age group so that you have so much more chance of more finally coming through.  How you really get the numbers ( if it can be done in the UK ) is what though must exercise so many people.

That's 20 sets in a row Bally has won in Nottingham - and 14/15 matches since they restarted these events here in 2009.
