Well, Emelia did win two return points that weren't DFs and even won one of them on a Laura 1st serve. I'm not sure I feel too sorry for Emelia - in years to come, she can say she played Laura Robson ... and even won a couple of games!

Having said that, it might have been more fun to face another unranked Brit in QR1 and then play Laura in QR2, the reward or fate awaiting the winner of Lauren McMinn v Francesca Lewis.

Wow - Abbi Melrose has just taken the 1st set against 8th seed Alenka Hubacek (AUS) WR 759!

Good to see Mandy and Laura breezing through. Good start for Abbi, though Hubacek has played a few British tours recently and barely won a match (I have a feeling Melrose was won of those who beat her but I might be wrong) so seems out of form (or if Melrose beat her previously then clearly she has the Ozzie's number).
