Back to the Marcus Willis controversy, forgive me if I'm just being cynical, but how exactly do we know that it's really him? Anyone could have just created an account and pretended to be him?
Obviously we can't be sure but it did have a ring of authenticity to it.
Jeff- maybe you were not at the same match I was today- didn't say a word to the balls girls maybe my attitude was angry but when your not playing great I'm not going to be over the moon- I said nothing to the umpire at all- and nothing to line judges. As for te weight I'm passing fitness tests with flying colours on endurance and speed. Oh and strength. Took out the guy who made j wimby final last year so he knows how to play on grass.... Also Jeff if you can beat me at any physical test I will change my middle name to Jeff. Not being funny but what are you top 600 in the world at (other than the obvious)?
Ok mate - I respect your views but I thought you were rude to the umpire when you told him to "Wake up" and that a call on Ebden's serve was a "shocker". Off the top of my head, you said "Wait" (no "Please") to a ballgirl in quite an aggressive manner when she was considering crossing. I personally didn't like it that much. A few of your looks at the line judges weren't to my taste either and surely designed to intimidate?, but perhaps I'm just being old school. Throw in (what I perceived) as your general demeanour and that is why I commented as I did.
I feel rather guilty for hiding behind a mask of anonymity on the internet whilst we all know who you are - so I was the guy standing level with the far service line. If you remember me then feel free to come up for a chat anytime and I'll clarify my comments on here. If you want I can make myself known to you and we can discuss my post?
Oh come off it. Those complaints are trivial. Saying "wait" in agressive manner and telling an umpire that a decision was "a shocker". I made my opinions quite clear on the Nottingham thread that I don't think abusing officials is acceptable but what you describe doesn't come close to that.
on the willis controversy i would just like to say i have seen him play on a number of occasions and he seems like a genuinely nice boy to me and was always professional. i didnt see the specific match at queens, however im quite aware he has a reputation of being a nice person and seems to be well liked amongst players both british and foreign and also by every official i have spoken too they always say he has a good joke and is nice to them. anyway, would we question roger federer after the us open final against del potro when the umpire let del potro challenge a call late and federer swore and was 'disrespectful' at the change over? no because a persons overall character should be taken into consideration surely and by the sounds of things i think that the things being talked about are quite picky...there are players smashing rackets, spitting, swearing, being abusive and threatening and i think those are bigger problems to talk about than to single out willis for telling a ball girl to wait during the heat of a match. just my opinion.
