Fantastic performance from James, so much resolve after losing that 2nd set tiebreak, kinda feel gutted he doesn't have the opportunity to play Rafa as that would've been fantastic.
Btw James is now getting too good LOL, my sig contained too much letters so had to do some re-jigging!!
Btw when was the last time any non AM/TH/GR beat 3 top 60 players in a row?

I'd love to know the answer to that last question too but it's impossible to answer with 100% certainty unless you have all the data for the last N years in a form that a computer can run across, i.e. it's beyond me. I gave up on trying to find the last time a Brit other than those three had beaten top 15 and top 30 in successive rounds yesterday and asked Sharko, the ATP stats guy, thinking he might have the tools to find it out with, but no reply as yet.

Come to think of it, I might be able to do better than that - in 1992, Jeremy Bates beat Michael Chang WR 7, Javier Sanchez WR 32 and Thierry Champion WR 50 to reach R4 at Wimbledon before going out to Guy Forget WR 9. Bates also reached R4 in 1994 (also losing to Forget, coincidentally) but didn't face anyone in the top 80 in the first three rounds!
I can't be 100% sure that 1992 is the last time, but none of the Brits other than AM/TH/GR who have reached ATP semi-finals or beyond since then have beaten three top 60 players in a row - the last Brit to manage that was Colin Dowdeswell at Johannesburg in 1983, when he beat Kevin Curren in R2, Tim Gullikson in the QFs and Vitas Gerulaitis in the semis before going down to Johan Kriek WR in 5 sets in the Final - they were all comfortably in the top 60 six weeks later, the closest week for which a full top 100 is available on the ATP site.

That was generous from Tsonga. What a truly abysmal game! 2 dfs + a horrible error on an easy put away. The other point was an ugly error from JWT too.
James has played some nice tennis. Did well to hold first game in the 2nd set. Perhaps a few too many loose shots.
3-0
4-1 another good hold from James after his drop shot clipped the net and came back on his side.

That's the great thing about playing a GEM, there's always a chance they'll let you back into it. Full credit to James for once again coming back strong after a setback though!

Almost recovered from 0-30 but a couple of careless shots and Tsonga eventually breaks back. Shame because James' general standard of play has been impressive. Sliced backhand into the net at 40-30 not clever.
6-5*
