Disgraceful decision from the umpire / referee. At this time of the year you can play till around 9:20 in the evening. It is not that uncommon for play at Wimbledon to go on till 9:30 and sunset is only about 5 minutes later then than it is now.
If only Nadal had served out his match at 5-3 in the second
Lets just hope that James doesn't let the inhustice worry him because aside from one lapse he played very, very well. He has every chance to finish the job off.
Good news from the BBC - they are going to show the conclusion of Wardy's match on BBC2 from 1 pm. That's if the torrential rain has stopped by then, obviously.

Time is only one of the factors, cloud cover, surrounding buildings and stands etc., all make a significant difference.
I would have been delighted for play to continue if this had meant Ward winning, I might have felt differently had he lost
I think it's the subjective nature of these decisions that frustrates players and spectators alike. Maybe you could take a light meter reading to say that at a certain light level both players need to be happy to continue, and below another benchmark play is suspended.
That said rain looks like it's likely to be todays biggest problem.
One thing that wasn't clear to me was whether James had declared he wanted to play on. Querrey clearly wanted to stop, and maybe James was a bit unwilling to make an issue ( in the nicest possible way ) about it.
It is not too unusual for matches to be called off at the end of a set, but to me that is with both players' general agreement with the umpire.
But if one player does want to continue, it is really the referee's call, and if there is light for a few games then again to me that call should be to play on. Whether the referee was really just affirming kinda general agreement or really having to make a decision between differing views I am not sure.

Annoying for James as he was probably favourite if the decider was played last night. Still 3rd round is a good effort for Queens, and if he can win a round in Eastbourne then his ranking drop-off won't happen until much later in the year which is good news (and possibly give a chance of defending his points).
If he is so good on grass why does he not bother with Newport like Boggo and Bloomers do? Admitted they're disgraceful courts but you'd have thought he'd have a shot there.
