What a fantastic result, and he really had to dig deep too by the looks of it, Wawrinka wasn't giving it away.

Brilliant, brilliant - great day for James. What a pity this is such an undervalued tournament pointswise.

Get that sig changed, TMS! biggrin

What a fantastic result, shame about the miserable points reward disbelief

He definitely has a shot against Querrey, I'd say, even if the American can actually play on grass.

WOW !!!!

Great stuff, Wardy.    That's snookered anything the girls have been doing today on what I'd suggest has been a rather good day  smile

I thought for a moment that it might be the best win in ranking terms of anyone including Muzza, but he did beat Ferrer ( WR 7 ) and Melzer ( WR 11 ) at the Australian Open.  Best win of anyone since.

It's the best win by any brit not called Murray since Wardy's win against Feli Lopez at Eastbourne last year.

Stunning win - best I can recall in ranking terms by a Brit outside the top 100 for over a decade. Ian Flanagan beat Mark Philipoussis here in 2004, but he was ranked slightly lower than Wawrinka. Mark Petchey beat world no.2 Michael Stich in 1994, and there may well be one or two others over top 15 players since, but I cannot think of them off the top of my head.
