Certainly was - for a change ! Katie will face the Italian second seed, Romina Oprandi, in the second round, while Anne takes on Kai-Chen Chang (TPE), who dumped out the Chinese top seed by 0 & 3 earlier! A chance for Anne? The only seeds left are Oprandi, Tamira Paszek (3), Melanie Oudin (4) & Coco Vandeweghe (5)!

I think Anne plays Foretz Gacon, like I said earlier ("In R2, Anne will play Hev's RG R1 victim Stephanie Foretz Gacon (FRA) WR 133 (CH 62 in 2003) - they have met once before, on clay in St Malo in 2008, Foretz winning 4 & 6") - she is in the bottom half of Chang's quarter - or was the last time I looked.

B*gger! I was hoping I'd get a chance to correct that gaffe before anyone noticed! You're quite right, of course, Steven. Dunno why, but my eyes seem to keep being drawn to the wrong line when I'm looking at match-ups for following rounds, especially with the combi draw sheets the bloody LTA insists on using for women's "Challenger" events instead of individual ones. Well, that's my excuse, anyway...
