RE: Wimbledon wild cards 2011

That tends to be a bit of a mystery right to the end, but I think it is at least the two finalists.

No, he's only WR 774, so I assume that's the remaining QWC gone - I can't see them giving him a MD WC if he's ranked that low.

shocking from Eaton he did well a couple of yeras ago but never came through. Did see him in Davis Cup he beat Marchenko and was prepared to fight although his game to me seem limited. Still he seemed like a NICE guy. anyone expecting Goodall to come through this play offs

That's a decent scalp for Alex Ward. Eaton's a fair player on Grass......

This is Neal Skupski's complete ATP results...

Age   W-L
15   2005 Manchester Challenger   1Q    0-1
16   2006 Manchester Challenger   FQR   2-1
      GB F11 (Ickley)           2Q    1-1
17   2007 Manchester Challenger   2Q    1-1
18   2008 Manchester Challenger   FQR   1-1
19   2009 Manchester Challenger   1Q    0-1
20   2010 GB F11 (Chiswick)       1R    3-1
GB F12 (Roehampton)       Semi-Final 3-1 (inc. beating Laurent Rochette [WR:284] &  Alex Ward)

4-5 at challenger level
8-3 at futures level

He's 21 now.  So he's probably finished uni now?  I wonder if he is going to try full-time at tennis or not.  It's got to be worth a shot at it surely.

According to an article on the LSU website, he has one more year to go. Said article also notes that last year he was All-American (as one of the top-ranked doubles teams in the country), Louisiana's player of the year, etc. Doing well there as well as in his ITF tournaments.

Being in university can't hurt. There are some terrific players coming through the system At Virginia over the past five years they've had Inglot, Huey, Shabaz, Jarmere Jenkins, Devvarman, Sanam Singh, Alex Domijan, Julen Uriguen and Drew Courtney . . . more talent in one programme than many countries could put together. OK, Virginia appears to have been pretty dominant, but still . . . just glancing at rosters, the people playing are largely equivalent to people of the same age on the futures circuit.  So you get high-quality matches, the support of coaches and a team . . . and the degree, too, to give you a little balance. Should be good preparation if he does decide to try the pro circuit.

The first time this has happened, and I've no reason to believe it's not genuine. @WL_SRUMSEY_LFC tweeted me to say:

"I umpired that ward v eaton match... Fantastic tennis!! :)"

I thought when I saw the draw that it might be the match of the day, though it looks like Marsalek-Willis turned out quite exciting too.

I think I read that Falla's in as a DA now following a few withdrawals. Maybe Bloomers will get a wildcard after all
