..............I don't really have much sympathy for Bloomers, I know he did well Newport but he has done bugger all of note since then.
That is rather mean! - I hope that you never have back pain such that you cannot stand straight, let alone serve at 130 mph.
Richard has only played 11 tournaments in the last 12 months compared to say Cox's 28 ! He has been receiving physio treatment on his back following spinal injections last year (at his own expense of course) He is at last working back to fitness, in a similar manner to Boggo who has only played 12 tournaments and is two places lower in the rankings never-the-less still awarded a wildcard into qualies as did others of lower ranking.
By the way Clement who has WC entry into MD is one player who in Washington Richard took a set from and only lost by a third set tie-breaker.
Over the years he has had good reason to be critical of the LTA in the unfair way he has been treated but has rarely expressed opinion - perhaps that has been his failing.

I see every other ranked player ( down to last DA Lewis Burton ) is there except Colin Fleming, who kind of has other business of a doubles variety to attend to.
That Neal Skupsky fella has a name so similar to Ken Skupski's ( missing in inaction ) brother Neal.
Chris Eaton vs Alex Ward looks quite fun for starters.

... which would also explain why Bloomers isn't there!

Sorry but I don't see how not thinking he was overly deserving of a wild card into the qualifying stage makes me mean.
You weren't to know about what he has been going through this year, so maybe not mean, but the point is that another reason for giving out WCs is supposed to be to help those who are under-ranked because they have had injury problems - Bloomers has had horrible injury problems over the last year yet he was still within 100 places of the 250 cut-off for a main draw WC, ahead of two players who did get WCs and in fact the only player in the top 400 on either the men's or women's side who did not get at least a QWC (apart from Lisa, who is currently injured, and Cav, who has retired), which implies that the QWC cut-off for non-juniors was 400, even for players who weren't under-ranked because of injury.
Btw @itctennis is tweeting updated scores from the playoffs today -
Eaton v Ward 6-4 *0-3 Feaver v N Skupski 7-6
