I am both pleased and relieved to see the two Dan's get WC's.

I wouldn't fault his effort or attitude but Dan Cox's is outside the 250 and has earned virtually all his points at futures level, if he falls without a decent fight (and he admitted to being a little overawed at Queens yesterday) it'd seem an incorrect choice. I hope like hell he performs at his best.

Dan Evans has picked up points this year but also had a couple of shockers. I have no idea if injured or whatever but many have critisized his attitude at times, this makes it seem an odder choice. Like the other Dan, I worry if the performance isn't there it'll be even harder for others to get rewarded in future years.

On the other side of the coin, if they do well, then maybe these rules will be relaxed a little more often (please God!)

Richard not getting one in either main draw or qualies seems completley out of order on the face of it (he may have told them he wanted Eastbourne?????) Not only has he won here before, he made an ATP semi last year and since then has spent much of the time fighting a back injury. Without knowing whats behind it, I think this is disgraceful if simply overlooked.

Hopefully Dan Cox may have learned something from how nervous he was at Queen's yesterday that will help him to at least play his best at Wimbledon, even if he doesn't win a match.

As for Bloomers, I guess we'll have a better idea of what's really going on when we see whether he is in the draw for the playoffs.

That's a bit 'out there' ... or am I missing something?

Don't worry - Richard is used to being ignored by the LTA ever since junior days he has had to do things on his own but when JB moved on at LTA things might have changed but they didn't.
I think Steven once summed it up when he said that those at the LTA thought Norfolk was a place in the south pacific and didn't realise it was part of GBR, Aucks too received the same lack of support.

Clement deserves a WC no issue with him...but Falla not so sure.

Hope the Dans can draw themselves that way at least they will have a chance....

James can win a round but again all down to the draw.

Liam's weird tweet explained

Oli Golding: "@Liambroady mate one guy on the forum thought u last tweet was serious hahahahaha those guys never cease to amaze me"

ashamed - though to say I took it seriously is going a little too far LOL

It's good to know that we're amazing though wink (errr ...)

Falla was 2 sets up against the defending champion last year and just reached the 4th round at Roland Garros. Clement has dropped down the rankings because he has barely won any matches in the past year and would be down to the 180s once his '10 Wimbledon points come off. Of the 2 foreigners I'd say Falla is the more deserving and Clement is pretty lucky.

Ooooh Golding's clearly looking to lose his very few fans quite quickly...

Hmmm. Not sure that tweeting in jest about another named person's lack of WC is very productive ... but I also don't know the back story. On the other hand, v. glad to read the Thornley tweet -- sounds like a very sensible response to a dubious -- thus far -- decision. Wholeheartedly agree with other posters: if they are going to bend rules in singles, why not give such a fast-rising doubles team a chance?

I know, picks up a few dozen new followers in a single day with a good performance at some crappy little tournament somewhere in west London and thinks he can start slagging us off. biggrinbiggrin

I've had much worse from the Count, so I think I can just about let Oli off wink - and it was pretty dozy of me (even by my low standards) to even paste it. (late night last night, too much to do this morning, brain implosion ... !)

Not sure I understand Oli's reaction, seems very petty considering the positivity we've shown towards both he and Liam. Hes gonna need to invest heavily in some PR if thats how he wants to treat his fanbase!

Should have given it to Chris Simpson instead

God, I'd love to see Boggo or Bloomers (If he comes through the play offs) qualify.
Then draw and beat one of the British Wild Cards in Round 1!
Then Beat Clement or Falla in Round 2!
Then beat an out of retirement John Lloyd in Round 3, with plenty of bakery products to boot!
Ahhhh how I love daydreaming......

It's quite a relief that people are having a bit of a go at Oli here instead of laughing at me for the original post (not that I want to tempt the Count to join in here! LOL), so thanks for that, but I'm a bit surprised too!

I guess it depends whether you take the last bit as having been meant nastily or not. I didn't think it was nasty - I mean, they take the p*ss out of each other on twitter all the time, not to mention the fact that even I laugh at me/us going a bit over the top sometimes wink - plus there are many times I post in a hurry, see it later and go "doh!! what was I thinking?!!!!

It must be very weird as a player, especially a young one, to see strangers talking about them and speculating all the time ... and Oli tweeting to Liam forgetting we'd read it (or maybe hoping we would, who knows) is no worse than us commenting on some of the players and forgetting that they might be looking too. I still can't believe how many players read the forum ... and I usually try to forget they do, else I might never risk posting anything. biggrin

Of course, you might have a point that the more well known they become, the more players may need some advice on how to avoid offending their fans. But I wish we didn't live in a world where players end up saying as little as they can because they've got burnt in the past for some tiny mistakes. Oli and Hev are examples of two young Brits who seem to give open, fun interviews and it'll be sad for all concerned if the press (or the fans) manage to drum that out of them by making them live to regret the odd unguarded remark like they did with Muzza's 'England' comments and other rubbish like that.

Life's too short to spend too long feeling offended. smile

PS. I remember seagull's 'Felgate intervention' too, that was funny. And Lisa having a go at me when she thought I was having a go at her - that all got sorted out ok. Better to get told off than ignored! wink
