To be honest when I watched Smethurst he looked more like a hardcourter than claycourter, forehand wasn't that loopy and lots of slice on the backhand
Ah yes, but to be a British 'clay court specialist' just means sometimes choosing to play on the red version when there are other options available and winning the odd match on the devil dust!

In case you're wondering why you couldn't find us Sheddie forgot to pay for the britishtennis.net domain renewal and some internet punk bought it, so entry is now through the activeboard links etc... We lost a few people at the time but most have found their way back now
Remaining three MD WCs ( as per Neil Harman tweet ) :
Dudi Sela, Gilles Miller + 1 direct
Presumably couldn't think of anyone else so hey let's basically have 7 WCs instead of 8.
I wonder when was the last time a country gave a WC into a big tournament just before the tie to one of the players on the opposing team for no apparent reason ...
(I guess the real reason is because he's moved up into the top 100 since the cut-off date, but still)

i'm pretty perplexed and borderline infuriated by these latest WC offerings. so is oli golding. per his tweets...
"Why do we give so many foreigners wc's ?" he asked. then after he retweeted the criticism "@BenTennis95: @Jackk321 too true, its bad how brits like @oli_golding, think that they shud automatically get a wc.'" he replied "I never said I should get one .. My point is that you don't see brits being given them into foreign tournaments and I wud rather them go .... To other Brits not foreigners"
i completely agree with oli here.
