These two are in opposite halfs of the draw this week. Thornley has a likely QF match up with top seed and last week's champion (1) Amir Weintraub (ISR) WR 246. Rice, meanwhile, has a pretty favourable draw, the nearest seeded player being (8) Tal Eros (ISR) WR 907

Sean says he got a beatdown from Weintraub today - not a big surprise, that'll be the 8th match in a row Weintraub has won without getting taken past 6-4 in a set.

I tweeted that Weintraub stat to back up Sean's tweet, and he must have seen it and replied:

"thanks for support it's always rough getting taken to the cleaners when the match is never really in your hands!"

A tweet Sean sent to Freddie Nielsen makes it pretty clear that they are going all out for a top 250 place by the WC cutoff:

"@freddienielsen yeah all good. You? It's looking tight mate. Up to about 263 or something, in final so could go higher. Nervous times! U ok?"

Not so good news from Sean, but impressively close:

"Lost 6-7, 7-6, 14-12. Had 3 mps! Will be devestated if our Wimby dreams have been shattered because of 1 point! #Gutted"

That's heart-breaking. cry  Any chance they'll still be given a wild card? please.gif  Not hard to see how much it would mean to Sean & David...
