Weeks 21-22 - Roland Garros men's main draw

L128: (4) Andy Murray WR 4 v Qualifier

The winner plays the winner of a Q v Q match (there are 20 qualifiers in the draw, thanks to 4 DAs withdrawing during qualifying!), he's in Melzer's quarter and Rafa's half.

Edit: OEM reporting that the first seed he could meet is Raonic.

Hmm, so the first 2 guys Andy will face will have at least proved they are currently reasonably competent on the red stuff ( and the RG red stuff at that ) as distinct to direct entry clay numpties.

Still, guess still has to be pretty good as they shouldn't be as good as a number of dangerous floaters that he might have got from the direct entrants.

Personally i think it's a great draw for Andy. Potential draw

R128 Qualie
R64 Qualie
R32 Raonic
R16 Troicki
QF Melzer
SF Nadal

He's avoided any dangerous clay-courters, whilst Fed drew Feliciani Lopez 1st round! Talk about hard luck

Could be worse, could be better. Does anyone else feel that Söderling has a potential gift of a draw, and Djokovic a nightmare?

Got to agree that overall Andy's draw couldn't have been much better and could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Pretty much, though I do think Andy's is very good too, and is much more like Sod's draw than Nole's.

Potential   L32 : DelPo  L16 :  Gasquet or Bellucci.  Nice  biggrin   Pity De Bakker wasn't nearer his best form to get Nole really warmed up in R1.

I would be happier without Dolgopolov as a potential draw in the L16, but agree that the first two rounds are as good as one could hope for. Don't know what Raonic is like on clay.

Dolgopolov has been unwell recently and his form stinks. In the unlikely case he does make it to the last 16, he'll be too tired. Murray will take him out!

L128: (4) Andy Murray WR 4 v (Q) Eric Prodon (FRA) WR 118 (CH 113 two weeks ago at the age of 29)

Winner to play (Q) Dancevic or (LL) Bolelli in R2.

Prodon has never lost to a Brit (apart from a w/o win for Alan Mackin years ago) but both Dan Cox and GB no 29 Jack Carpenter managed to inflict 1st set bagels on him last year before going down in three sets! confuse

Well lets hope Andy can follow the trend then and have a three set match where he bagels Prodon in the first wink.gif

I can't believe that the numpties bothered to make a draw. Isn't it all pointless?
