Naiktha Bains

I see Naiktha plays her first match since late August tomorrow, still just in a Brisbane UTR event, and also against the same player who she played (and lost to) in her last match:

www.tennisexplorer.com/player/gadecki/

This 18 year old is now on a 12 (UTR) match winning run, including wins over Naiktha and Cabrera (although nobody else of any real note), and is the betting favourite to extend that run. Roughly a 5.30am UK start time (depending on previous matches), and there will be a stream if anyone wanted to watch, although I can't imagine demand would too high for that type of match / time.

So as we are still in January, i reckon i can just about away with this....

So Naiktha finished 2021 as GB#10.   Here's the breakdown of how her 197 points were accrued. As i mentioned in the Top500 thread, the WTA doesn't make it easy to work out which tournaments count, so this is based from other tennis websites.

So it would be fair to say, Naiktha didn't have a great end to 2021, with only 26 of her 197 points originating from tournaments from the 2nd half of the year.  Indeed only just over 1/2 of her points (53%) come from 2021.  Not the worst in the top 10, but perhaps an indication of her struggles to push on in 2021.

Of the players who count a win in their points, Naiktha's is the oldest, Mildura from March 2019. Along with Fran, she is the only player who has a tournament from South America amongst her counters and unusually she has no points being contributed by US tournaments.

Naiktha has been racking up doubles titles with Maia Lumsden

She's won two 25k titles (at Notts)

And a 40k title (in Calvi, France)

Now breaks into the top-150 in doubles for the first time, at +30 to WTA 148

(Currently WTA 314 in singles)

A good showing in Wimbly Qualis in singles, winning QR1 against the WTA 183 Ukrainian.

And a WAY better performance in Wimbly Doubles, with Maia Lumsden, where they made the quarter-finals, playing exciting positive doubles tennis

And she is now rewarded with a top-100 doubles ranking, namely WTA 94

I see from live tennis that Naiktha is now live number one in the womens doubles, just 5 points clear of her doubles partner, Maia. Well done to her when it gets confirmed.
