Week 20 - Futures F3 ($10K) - Bastad, Sweden - Clay

Thread creation bonanza!

QR1: Tom Allen (GBR) UNR lost to Tore Deleuran-Skjold (DEN) UNR 6-0 6-0 bleh

No idea what's going on there, Allen usually gets through a round of qualifying or two. Smethurst in the main draw.

R32: Jack Carpenter (GBR) WR 1087 vs. (Q) Patrik Rosenholm (SWE) WR 742

Smethurst beat Orno 3 & 2 this week. Rosenholm is probably overranked, having just jumped 1000 places in a week thanks to an unlikely run to the India F5 title including a w/o and a retirement in the final!

Too slow...

Nice spot re why Rosenholm had to qualify despite being ranked in the top 750 - I had just assumed he was a Swede who hadn't entered on time!

When this happens against a British player, doesn't it usually lead to dark mutterings on here about how the tennis gods are transpiring to prevent any British player from ever making the top 100 as the odds of this happening are just too unlikely to be considered possible?!

LOL I know what you mean, but if I remember right, it usually takes it happening 3 times in a month for people to start saying that. Getting drawn against the same player twice in two weeks isn't that unlikely.

Carpenter lost the first set 6-3 to Rosenholm, but takes the second 7-5 after a mammoth game involving at least 3 BPs and 2 SPs! smile
