kinda worked it out myself, a men's event will have 74 matches in Singles, Doubles and Singles qualies (exlcuding dubs qualies as I'm not sure if all have these) so that will be 148 mens matches over the 2 weeks, if the ladies numbers are similar that will mean they will be hosting nearly 300 matches over 2 weeks!!

Is there a British Tour event taking place as well?

you are right!!

From LTA site:

AEGON British Tour (Tier 1)

* Men's and Women's singles: Sunday 29 May Friday 3 June

(does more research) so on the ladies side its a 32 strong draw with a 32 strong Q draw, with 8 qualifying, and on the men's it's a 32 strong draw, with 32>8 qualies and a 32>8 pre-qualies!

so that's another 140 matches???

Pretty sure the British Tour event will be on the hardcourts though, not the grass.

Ilhan has been quoted on saying Queen's is his next tourny, so i guess he's out. With 2 SE's still to clear and the potential of others pulling out, James could be one of the top 4 seeds in qualies which would only be a good thing!

Quick question - On the entry lists on the ITF website, there is sometimes a dollar sign ($) proceeding the name of a player. What does this indicate?

It means they have got an outstanding fine, for a late w/d or a code violation or whatevr. If I remember right, there's another symbol ($$ perhaps, I'm not sure) which means the fines have built up to a level at which they aren't allowed to take part until they are paid.

 Its something to do with the player having an outstanding payment due.  Its quite common.

As an aside, who do people feel will get the 4th WC?

I suspect they are holding it back to offer to a top 100 player out early at Rolland Garros to enhance the quality of the field.  If it goes to a Brit then I think Josh Milton must have a shot.  He's done well on grass, in some sort of form and may struggle to make it back from SA for qualies.  Bloomers is another when you consider he's been out with injuries, again another with a good grass game.

Failing that a youngster, Liam or Ollie maybe?  After the Aussie got one, I just hope it goes for a Brit.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are holding it back for Jamie Baker, who clearly isn't going to be able to get back from Korea in time for qualifying - though the way things are going with the weather there, he might not be able to get back in time for the main draw! Not that he has anything like the first call on it if it is based on rankings, or indeed youth!

Unless he was always intending to miss this event anyway.

Why hasn't Wardy been given a WC?
